Wessington Membership

If you are no longer in full time work, and would like to join, then please contact our Membership Secretary by clicking on this link Edith Wardlaw for more information. There is no waiting list for membership, you can join straight away.

Not sure if you want to join? You may attend a maximum of 4 Monthly Meetings as a guest, for free.

An Annual Subscription payable each year commencing in April. There is a reduced rate for persons joining after September.

As we meet in North Biddick Social Club we also have to become members of that club. Annual Subscription is initially £3, and then £2 per year thereafter. This gives full membership of the North Biddick Social Club. Please pay this fee to Peter Welsh in January each year.

Monthly Meetings
There is a regular monthly meeting. See the Events and Speakers page for more details.

Groups
Although a high proportion of our members attend the Monthly Meetings, members get most from their membership by joining one or more Groups. These groups are formed and run by Wessington U3A members themselves. Contact the specific Group Co-ordinator (details on the Groups page) to find out about joining a group. Some groups have to limit numbers for various reasons; therefore, some groups have a waiting list.

National and Regional U3A Organisations
Wessington is one of over 1000 U3A's across the UK, each affiliated to the Third Age Trust. U3As are self-help, self-managed, lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work. They provide opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.

Wessington U3A is part of the Northumberland Region U3A, which is part of the National organisation. Links to the National and Regional websites can be found on our National and Northumbria Region pages.

Wessington operates within a Network of other local U3As. See the Network page for more information about this.
