The Third Age Trust has issued various pieces of guidance about Covid-19 and you can look at the documents by clicking the links below. These documents have been updated as circumstances change and updated documents may appear on the TAT website before they appear here.
Click here for: Covid Advice 14 Sept. Note this document is 17 pages long but includes example checklists.
This latest advice includes the possibility that meetings of charities (U3A is a charity) can include up to 30 people.
As a result of the restrictions imposed on us by lockdown the Committee has agreed that subscriptions for 2020/21 will be waived. Anyone who paid their subscription earlier in the year may either carry it over to 21/22 or have the money refunded. If you wish to do the latter, please contact Edith Wardlaw via the website. Please note also that this does not affect our membership of the Third Age Trust; our capitation fee for the year has been paid.

Welcome to Wessington U3A's website. Its purpose is to keep our members and the wider community informed about our activities.
The website contains many shortcut links, which show as coloured text. Remember to use your browser's 'back' arrow or button to get back to the original page if you want to. This will also work if you have opened a document link such as the New Members Booklet 2019 (see below).
If you are no longer in full time work, and would like to join, then please contact our Membership Secretary by clicking on this link Edith Wardlaw for more information. You can download an application form by clicking on the link opposite. There is currently no waiting list for membership, you can join straight away.
Not sure if you want to join? You may attend a maximum of 2 Monthly Meetings as a guest (a nominal fee is payable) before joining.
Annual Subscription is £16 per year commencing in April. There is a reduced rate for persons joining after September. Members are reminded that their annual fee must be paid to the Membership Secretary by the end of June at the latest.
As we meet in North Biddick Social Club we also have to become members of that club. Annual Subscription is initially £3, and then £2 per year thereafter. This gives full membership of the North Biddick Social Club. Please pay this fee to Peter Welsh in January each year.
More information for our members can be found in the document that can be opened here: New Members Booklet 2019.
There is a regular monthly meeting. See the Events and Speakers page for more details.
Although a high proportion of our members attend the Monthly Meetings, most members get most from their membership by joining one or more Groups. These groups are formed and run by Wessington U3A members themselves. Contact the specific Group Co-ordinator (details on the Groups page) to find out about joining a group. Some groups have to limit numbers for various reasons, therefore some groups have a waiting list. If this is the case and you would like to start a second group then please contact a committee member.
National and Regional U3A Organisations
Wessington is one of over 1000 U3A's across the UK, each affiliated to the Third Age Trust. U3As are self-help, self-managed, lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work. They provide opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.
Wessington U3A is part of the Northumberland Region U3A, which is part of the National organisation.
Links to the National and Regional websites can be found on our National and Northumbria Region pages.
Wessington operates within a Network of other local U3As. See the Network page for more information about this.
