Walking Group
Great news, the walking group has started up again and is being led by new u3a member Angela Parker.
Last week the group walked from Rushden Lakes shopping area around 3 lakes and back for lunch.
It was a good walk except for us encountering cows in a field who started to approach us and we felt uneasy so changed our route to avoid walking past them.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, 26th of October. (Remember, it's the last Thursday of every month.)
As a complete change to the original schedule we will be to and around Sywell Country Park.
Meeting NOT at the country park itself but at Scotch Lodge Farm shop and café on the Mears Ashby Road in Earls Barton (just up from Newman and Reidy car sales on the corner). They will allow us to park for free at the very back of their car park (in the farmyard) because we will be buying lunch or having tea with them after our walk. Walk should take around 1.5 hours. A relatively flat walk except for the bit from Scotch Lodge to the reservoir itself which is on an incline.
Angela has started a WhatsApp group but, so far, only a few people have given their mobile numbers.
If those walkers who have not yet done so, could give Angela their numbers, she can add them to the group.

This is subject to change so an email will be sent out the day before the walk confirming the details for the next day.

31st of August - Sywell Aerodrome to Mears Ashby & back. About 4 miles. Lunch @ the Pilots' Mess.
28th of September - Potentially Rushden Lakes to Stanwick Lakes & back. About 6 miles. This is a walk that might well be changed though.
26th of October - Walk to and around Sywell Country Park.
30th of November - Castle Theatre , Wellingborough the Waendel Friendship Walk. Lunch @ the Castle Theatre.
14th of December, 11:00 a.m. start - The Horseshoe, Sywell and around Overstone. Xmas lunch @ The Horseshoe.
