Halstead & District

Walking

The Group Co-ordinator is Phil Gaw.

The walking group meets at various venues around the area on the 3rd Thursday of every month, starting at 10.30 sharp. (Sorry, no dogs). The walks last 2 hours approximately and are circular. This is a very friendly group who like to chat as well as walk, stop to enjoy views or wait for those who have walked a little slower that day.

The walks are designed to discover and explore the beautiful and diverse countryside around us and are usually within a 10-25 mile radius of Halstead. We try to find some new walks as well as revisiting established favourites.

The routes are always pre walked which enables us to have accurate and detailed information about obstacles such as stiles, terrain, and whether it is on footpaths, bridleways, minor roads or pavements. Most walks have a mixture of all of these, but the ideal is of course traffic free.

Details of the current months walk will be emailed in advance to all members of the Walking Group.

At the present times we have two vacancies in the group, anyone interested can contact me via the U3A website link
