WELCOME TO ALL IN THE HALSTEAD AREA
Thank you for visiting our website, which we hope you will find interesting and easy to use.
Halstead U3A is a member of the national Third Age Trust, which is a unique and exciting organisation providing life-enhancing opportunities for people who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in regular employment. We are a friendly group of people living in Halstead and the surrounding villages, who wish to come together to take up new interests. Members share their skills and experiences to learn together for enjoyment and pleasure.
We hold a monthly general meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at the Queen’s Hall, Chipping Hill, Head Street, Halstead, at 10 am, where we have a variety of lively speakers, followed by refreshments and a time for fellowship and a chat.
We also have a range of ‘Interest Groups’ which are mostly small, friendly learning units made up of about six to ten members, although some, like the walking group, have more. We encourage and help with the formation of new interest groups, either to develop a new interest or to meet the growing needs when a group is already full (numbers are limited for groups meeting in member’s homes) – those who lead the groups do not have to be experts in their subject, just to enjoy sharing their enthusiasm with others. After all, the development of any U3A works by some members leading new ventures as well as participating in ones which already exist.
Membership currently costs £12.00 a year per person.
