Theatre and Plays
Group Co-ordinator: Malcolm Swainsbury
Meet at the Co-ordinator's home at 2pm on 2nd Thursday in each month.
At the centre of our activities is the love of watching live plays. We have discussed live performances such as the National Theatre's "All My Sons" by Arthur Miller which we saw at Braintree's Cineworld. This was the conclusion of several sessions reading and discussing the play in our group sessions. Knowing the text we then could see how the director transformed the script into a live performance. This is fascinating and forms an important aspect of our activities. If we cannot see a live performance there is a wealth of material on dvd and the internet.
The group has evolved and responds to members' interests. Whatever we do though, essentially it is about sharing in lively conversation our enthusiasm for theatre and plays.
Meetings take place at the leader's home.
