LINCOLN’S INN - Friday 21 January 2022
Start and finish: Brockwell Lido
Ride Route: To Kennington Park and visit to the garden designed by Colonel Sexby, and the Prince Consort Lodge, built as a model dwelling which was “state-of-the-art” in 1851; Cleaver Square, laid out in 1789, the earliest square to be developed south of the Thames; Black Prince Road, and the site of the Royal Doulton offices and factory; the White Hart Dock where barges docked, carrying China clay brought from Cornwall; the Albert Embankment to Westminster Bridge, Embankment superhighway, Covent Garden, St Pauls Church, Lincoln’s Inn Field, Inns of Court, Middle Temple Church. WIMBLEDON PARK Friday 18th February, postponed to – Tuesday 22nd February 2022
Start and finish: Brockwell Lido
Ride Route: Clapham and Wandsworth Commons to Wimbledon Park for lunch before returning to Brockwell Lido through King George’s Park, Wandsworth then return via Wandsworth and Clapham Commons.

FULHAM PALACE, HAMMERSMITH AND FULHAM RIVERSIDES - Tuesday 1st March 2022
Start and finish: Brockwell Lido
Ride Route: Clapham and Wandsworth Commons to Putney Bridge, Thames path (south bank) to Hammersmith Bridge (looking in at Wetlands Centre, Barnes on route), cross river, Thames path (north bank) to Bishop's Park and visit Fulham Palace. Return by Lots Road Power Station, Embankment cycle route to Albert Bridge. Cross river to Battersea Park and return to Brockwell Lido.

OLYMPIC PARK AND VELODROME - Friday18th March 2022
Start: Rosebery Lodge, Dulwich Park. Finish: Burgess Park
Ride route: Via East Dulwich; Burgess Park to Tower Bridge; Shadwell Docks, Limehouse, Regent’s Canal, Victoria Park, Olympic Park and Velodrome for coffee; Lee Navigation to Riverside Café; lunch, Return via Limehouse Cut to Limehouse Basin; return via Cycle Superhighway to Tower Bridge; Burgess Park.
Cycle only (no trains). Local minor roads, park pathways; short stretch of shared road across Tower Bridge; short section of cobbled surfaces; canal paths; designated cycle Superhighway. Distance 32 miles, 7½ hours

Ride route: Train to Mortlake, Thames Path, cross Kew Bridge, Brentford High Street. River Brent path, Grand Union Canal to Three Bridges, Windmill Lane to Osterley Park. Return via Syon Lane station. Thames Path, some on gravel, main road some in bus lane, canal path, local roads.

Ride route: Clapham Common, Battersea Park, Chelsea Bridge, Hyde Park, Regent's Park, visit Queen Mary's Rose Garden (no cycles), Regent's Canal and Little Venice, Paddington Hyde Park, Constitution Hill. Common and park roads, local roads, canal paths on good surface. Distance 20 miles

Start and finish: Penge East Station; Burgess Park.
Ride route: Meet at Penge East station, Pool River, Waterlink Way and Linear Park, Catford, Ladywell Fields Coffee at Ladywell. Ravensbourne to Lewisham, Greenwich, Cutty Sark and Old Naval College. Thames Path upstream to Greenland Dock, Surrey Quays, Canada Water. Distance 24 miles

BEDDINGTON PARK, RIVER WANDLE AND MORDEN HALL- Tuesday 12 July 2022
Start and finish: Hackbridge train station; Clapham Common
Ride route: Train ride (20’) and cycle; 150 yards on main road (A237); pathways across parks and commons ; local roads with generally light traffic; on Wandle river path on good surfaces; cross main roads on lights; hill with a gentle gradient.
Explore Beddington Park, Carew Manor and Dovecote, St Mary’s Church. Ride the upper part of the River Wandle. Distance 25 miles

ST PAULS, SHOREDITCH AND VICTORIA PARK – Tuesday 9 August 2022
Start and finish: The Lido, Brockwell Park
Ride route: Cycle-only. Brockwell Park Lido, Burgess Park, Southwark Bridge, St Paul’s (coffee stop) to Haggerston / Regents Canal (short), Victoria Park. Return via Regents Canal, Limehouse and Superhighway to Peckham Rye or Brockwell Park. [Possible option to return via Olympic Park and Limehouse Cut, depending on weather, etc.] Distance 28miles

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF VINCENT VAN GOGH – Friday 26 August
Vincent van Gogh lived at 87 Hackford Road, Stockwell between 1873-74. He was transferred from The Hague branch of the Goupil and Company (art dealers) to the London Branch in Covent Garden, Southampton Street. Alas, the building no longer exists.
We will follow in Vincent's footsteps; he walked daily to Covent garden from Hackford Road, via Kennington Park, over Westminster Bridge to Covent Garden. The return journey will be via Blackfriars Bridge and lunch at Ev, Waterloo

SOUTH LONDON PARKS – Tuesday 6 September
Start at Brockwell Park to go via Dulwich Park to Peckham. We follow the Grand Surrey Canal to Chumleigh Gardens for coffee (alas the gardens are closed for maintenance, at least they were closed on Sunday 21 August, maybe they are open again for our ride) onwards to Myatts Fields, Loughborough Junction and to the start point of Brockwell park. Mostly we will be cycling in quiet parks and some flat urban roads. Distance 16 miles

BUSHY PARK & HAMPTON COURT – Friday 23 September
Train from Clapham Junction Station to Teddington Station. Coffee nearby then cycle to and around Bushey Park where we have lunch. After lunch we cycle around Hampton Court, back along the river and on to Teddington Station from where we return to Clapham Junction. Distance 20 miles

CENTRAL LONDON; GARDEN CITY – Tuesday 4 October
Cycle to Lambeth Palace and the Museum of Garden History (coffee in the cafe); Hyde Park; Regents Canal; Regent's Park; lesser known gardens of Bloomsbury; Lincoln's Inn; Phoenix Garden; return via Archbishops' Park to Brockwell Park. Distance 18 miles

SALTER CENTENARY RIDE – Friday 21 October 2022
In 1922 Ada Salter became mayor of Bermondsey and Alfred Salter was elected MP. This wonderful Quaker couple devoted their lives to the environment, housing and public health. They transformed a deprived inner-city area into a healthy green oasis. @This ride will visit a number of places associated with the Salters, accompanied by our guide, Sheila.
Brockwell Park Lido, Burgess Park, Canada Water, Alfred Salter School, Rotherhithe Peninsula, Thames Path, Bermondsey, Southwark Park and the Ada Salter Gardens; a café in the park. Distance about 20 miles

THE WORLD IMAGINED SOUTHWARK SCULPTURE TRAIL - Tuesday 1 November 2022
“A journey of discovery to …..understand the transatlantic trade in enslaved Africans and its impact on us…..” The route visits a number of globe sculptures broadly following the river from Brixton around to Peckham. The globes have been created by artists “bringing to life themes from Mother Africa to Still we rise and Expanding Soul”. More details at:

FRIEZE IN REGENTS PARK. (Extra ride) - Tuesday 8 November 2022
Gentle cycling through Hyde Park to Regent's Park, where we will make our way to the English Garden to see the Sculptures on show for Frieze 2022. This is a fun outdoor display held every October and November.

SCULPTURES IN THE CITY – Friday 18 November 2022
Medium ride, about 18 miles cycling; total time about 4½ hours. Urban roads with bus lanes, including use of advance cycle boxes at junctions, some cycle paths.
Route: Brockwell Park Lido, Kennington (coffee), Elephant & Castle, London Bridge, Fenchurch Street, then visit to the sculptures; lunch stop at the Gherkin. Return via London Bridge to Peckham Rye or Brockwell Park.

TRINITY BUOY LIGHTHOUSE -Tuesday 29 November (John)
Easy cycling to Tower Bridge, the crossing of which is the most difficult part of the ride to St Katharine’s Dock. Coffee. Riverside through Wapping, Shadwell and Limehouse. Cycle highway to Trinity Buoy Lighthouse. Lunch at The Orchard or packed lunch). Return via the Cycle highway or Superhighway back to Blackfriars Bridge. We will then travel along quiet streets to Burgess Park where group members can decide to return to Brockwell Park/Herne Hill or go on to Peckham.
