We are pleased to announce Fox, Wiggle & Sass have been booked for this event.

Based in North Essex, Fox Wiggle and Sass are a live vocal harmony trio who travel the length and breadth of the UK to entertain with their eclectic, swinging feel good music. Their repertoire spans the decades with classic 1940's big band numbers, to their 'Modern Swing' set, giving you the chance to dance the night away.

The group have performed all over the UK for an incredible variety of events; from Vintage festivals to Corporate Award Ceremonies - not to mention the Christmas extravaganzas! The group provide all their own equipment for all performances, including PA, lights and background music for in between performances, should your event require it.

Prices are £15 with Fish & Chip super or £8 without food.
Bird Watching & Wildlife Group
Wed Nov 20th The Bird Watching Group makes visits to reserves on each third Wednesday of the month.
This usually takes place between the rush hours and we often call somewhere near to lunch after the walk.
The group receives an email a week before the visit to give details of the venue.

Contact is Colin Martin.
Family History
Thu Nov 28th The Family History Group meets in the upstairs back room of the Village Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month from 10 till 12.

We usually have a feature for the first part of the meeting, such as a presentation or talk by a member. Then a break for refreshment.
As we are able to access Wi-Fi, we then help each other with our research.
If you are not a member of the group but would like to find out about family history and how you get started, please come along and join us.

Last month we had an excellent slide talk from Jan Talikowski. This month Diana Quorn is giving a slide talk on her ancestors London Pubs.

From 14.00 to 16.00 our planning meeting will take place in the ground floor small hall at the rear of the Village Hall, SWF. The door to this hall is opposite the enclosed ball park.

This meeting is to decide on where we'd like to go on our monthly visits during 2020.

So, bring along your ideas, as all of these will be considered.

As soft drinks and biscuits will be on offer, can you please bring along a glass or mug for your own use.

If you will be attending this meeting, can you please let me know.
Sun Jan 5th 2020 TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT ARE AVAILABLE AT THE END OF NOVEMBER

As it is not possible to spread an event between 2 dates I have put the 5th January which is the last date to see the event

An exhibition which may interest our members of Hogarth’s paintings and engravings of ‘The Rake’s Progress’ is at the Sir John Soane’s Museum until January 5th. The entrance to the museum and the exhibition are free but to see the exhibition you need to book tickets through the website -
https://www.soane.org/whats-on/exhibitions/hogarth-place-and-progress

There are tickets available from the end of November, the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Lyn & I will be going but we’re not sure when as our run up to Christmas is pretty busy.
Tue Jan 21st 2020 Tutankhamen Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery

See price update

Although we haven't held our planning meeting, I would like to propose that we visit the Tutankhamen Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, hopefully on Tuesday 21 January 2020.

Having contacted their Education Department, I have been advised that the cost per person would be £21.45 per person for a minimum group of 10 members. There is a note online stating that the entry costs may vary.

To place a booking, I will need to know how many members would be interested in going to this exhibition. So, can you please let me know if you would like to go to this.

Monies will be collected at our monthly meeting this month, if there is sufficient interest.

We would be still able to go if the above-mentioned number isn't achieved however the concessionary entry fee is £22 per person.

Travel details to follow, once I have received your replies.
Walkers
Wed Nov 27th Those wanting to get their legs walking, meet at the village hall 10.00 as usual for car sharing, weather depending.

Maybe decide amongst yourselves which of the easy, non-muddy walks to embark on. Options are:-

1 Start at Leigh station for the Leigh to Southend walk & return by train? Lunch on the sea front optional. Or any other combination in the same area?

2 Hyde Hall garden paths or the Woodland Walk, (but this can be quite squelchy if we have had recent rain.)

3 A circuit around South Woodham Ferrers through the Fenn, along the sea walls, emerging into Saltcoats playing fields and return to village hall.
