WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF CROUCH VALLEY U3A
Registered Charity 1180675.
Based in the small Essex town of South Woodham Ferrers the Crouch Valley U3A was launched at a well attended first meeting on Tuesday 15th March 2011 as a sister group to the already well established South Woodham Ferrers U3A. We currently have around 175 members and new members are welcome to join us. If you wish to come along to one of the monthly meetings please use the contact us link for information.

The University of the Third Age is a national organisation, formed in 1982. It currently has reached 1050 local U3A groups and a total membership of well over 440,000. There are 140 U3A groups in our region. It seeks to provide informal learning and social activities for people no longer in full-time employment. It is run entirely on a self-help basis: all the committee members and group leaders are volunteers. We currently have 23 thriving interest groups which are listed on the Groups page and any of these can be joined either by contacting the relevant Group Contact at a meeting or by emailing the Group Co-ordinator via the Contact page. We welcome suggestions for new groups from our members so if you have a special interest not catered for by our existing groups we would be delighted to offer the opportunity to set up a group within our organization.

Our annual membership fees 2019 - 2020 are as follows; May to March (full year) £15, July - March £12, October - March £8 and January - March £4. We have introduced a new membership category of Associate Membership where someone who is a full member of another U3A Club can participate in our group activities and pay a fee of £10. You find the latest membership form by following the General Information link to either download or print off a membership application form, which can then be sent to the Membership Secretary at the address shown. We hold a monthly meeting for members on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at Champions Manor Hall, Hullbridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5LJ.
