The University of the Third Age is a national organisation, formed in 1982. It currently has reached 1050 local U3A groups and a total membership of well over 440,000. There are 140 U3A groups in our region. It seeks to provide informal learning and social activities for people no longer in full-time employment. It is run entirely on a self-help basis: all the committee members and group leaders are volunteers.
