Walkers

The Walkers group meet (during BST on the second Monday and) on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10.00am at SWF Village Hall car park.

Members can join the group at any time providing they are willing to take a turn in leading a walk. This is fundamental to the success of the group's schedule of walks and ensures that all dates in the schedule are filled. Members are free to swap dates with others if necessary.

Alongside is a picture of the recent walk to Canvey. Spot who's who.

Through the efforts of the Walkers in November they raised £120 for Children in Need. Please see letter of thanks.

Dates for your Diary
Wed Jan 29th Lesley & Steve - Runwell - South Hanningfield

This is a circular walk & will start/finish at the Quart Pot PH in Runwell.

The walk can be divided into 2 sections

1 The first part takes us from the Quart Pot to the Old Windmill pub, South Hanningfield, on pavements and then along field edges and well worn footpaths. This lasts about 1 hour covering approx 2.5 miles.

2 The second part returns to the Quart Pot via different field edges, a quiet country lane for a short way, passing an equestrian centre & various farm buildings. This is a bit longer at 1.5 hours and approx 3+ miles
Both have nice views from the hill tops if the weather is fine and there is one stile on each route, but can be avoided if you really must. Underfoot, around field edges, the ground was ‘soft’ and squelchy in parts, but not completely boggy.

So if you fancy a shorter walk and have a buddy that can pick you up at South Hanningfield at around 11.30 (coffee at the pub or the Reservoir café?) then route (1) is for you. Otherwise we will continue on route (2) to make our way back to the Quart Pot for lunch/refreshments if required, at about 13.00. https://www.classicinns.co.uk/thequartpotrunwell/food-and-drink

You could also arrange to meet us at South Hanningfield and just do route (2) with us, but will need to organise a pick up at Runwell, if there are no free places in the cars. Call me on the day for an update if this is your preference.

We will meet at SWF village hall for car sharing at 10.00. Remember to display your U3A car stickers, if leaving your car at the car park. Hopefully no heavy rain.
