Important Update - Re Covid 19
With the new restrictions regarding the numbers who can meet socially we have obtained guidance regarding the numbers taking part in our walk.
We contacted National and they have been taking guidance from the Ramblers on this and they and National can confirm that Sport England confirmed that walking groups following their Covid-19 Risk assessments may continue with no more that 30.
The Walkers group meet (during BST on the second Monday and) on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10.00am at SWF Village Hall car park.
Members can join the group at any time providing they are willing to take a turn in leading a walk. This is fundamental to the success of the group's schedule of walks and ensures that all dates in the schedule are filled. Members are free to swap dates with others if necessary.
The Walking Group met officially as a group for the first time since lockdown.
The group met at the Prince of Wales in Stowmaries and did a circular walk back to the pub.
Below are some pictures of the walk.
Since then the group will be continuing with the programme of walks which you can see below. There are dates where we need leaders. Please contact Lesley if you are able to do so.

|Wed Oct 28th||Wickford Memorial Park.|
This is a lovely long walk around the perimeter of the park, lots of open space, wooded area, memorial arboretum, plenty of seating and a fabulous café with really nice food. There is also limited free parking nearby in 3 locations.
The path around the edge is about 2.25km long on a mixture of tarmac paths and trail paths, parts of which are tree lined, alongside the river Crouch. Some sections may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain.
Facilities: The park has toilets, located outside the Huttons central café building. There is an enclosed children’s play area nearby to the cafe, a crazy golf course, multi-sport area (including basketball), a tennis court, remembrance garden and a small selection of outdoor gym equipment (optional!). So if you are childminding, dog walking or keeping fit, all are welcome this week.
There is a very small car park off Runwell Road (look for the zebra crossing) outside the official entrance gates sat-nav SS11 7HR, plus 2 small car parks servicing the park, at the end of Rettendon View sat-nav SS11 8JE and the other, at the end of Whist Avenue sat-nav SS11 8LN.
So the plan is to meet outside the café building at 10.30, which is centrally located in the park, then decide if we want tea/coffee/refreshments before or after the walk. We can then do one circuit or two (for 4.5km)
For those who want to walk a bit further, the Quart Pot pub is 10 minutes up the road from the main ‘official’ entrance, so if you would like a pint and a meal afterwards, then allow 10/15 mins extra to meet us at the café for 10.30.
Remember it’s half term, so you may have to park in the street nearby if the 3 car parks mentioned above are already full!
