Whitchurch Shropshire

Gardening Appreciation

We are a group of gardeners, not horticulturalists, but folk who enjoy our gardens.

The meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month, usually meeting at 1.30pm for a 1.45 start.

During the winter months we meet at the Higher Heath village hall and have a speaker.

During the summer months we go on outings, either to a garden of interest, or to a garden centre and there we sometimes manage to have either a guided tour or a talk.

Currently we have about 36 members, of whom 20-25 are able to attend.

The aim is to encourage people to look at their gardens in a different way, design, diversification and management and also design, whatever the size of the plot. And to expand our ideas of what we could do there.

For the outings we are trying not to travel too far, about 18 miles from Whitchurch as we are aware of the cost of fuel.

We do not have a membership fee. Being a member the U3A is the only criteria, which means that the cost of meetings is variable according to what a speaker charges.
