Textile Crafts

This new group offers you the opportunity to carve some time out of your busy schedule to get together with like-minded textilers and make progress with your own projects, whether they be patchwork and quilting, dress making or any other textile project.
The leader is not an expert and no teaching will be involved but we can offer each other help and general advice. Bring your sewing machine (and extension lead if possible), or sit and hand-sew. Please bring all your own textile or sewing equipment and materials.
This interest group is taking place as part of our new "1st Tuesday" meeting on the first Tuesday afternoon of the month.

Future Visits
The Textile Crafts group is planning to go to all five of the textile exhibitions at Forge Mill Museum this 2024 season. The first visit was on Monday 11th March to 'Transport and Buildings' presented by the Bristol Modern Quilting Group.
Our visits to the remaining four exhibitions will all be on Thursdays as follows:
16th May, MAKING CONNECTIONS, Midlands Textile Forum
11th July, NOW AND THEN, Tangent Textiles
3rd October, HONOURING THE PAST; CREATING THE FUTURE, Hilary Beattie and the Viewpoint Group
7th November, SPACES TO DREAM, Stitch in the Middle Group

We will meet at 10.30am in the Cloisters for coffee (cake?) and chat, and move on to the exhibition about 11.00am. A ticket to a single exhibition is £6.80. The newly introduced "Textile Connoisseurs Club Pass" costs £13: this allows entry to all 5 of the season's textile exhibitions, and gives a 10% discount in the shop and coffee bar. Either ticket can be purchased on the day. You are all welcome to join us!
