Music in Our Time

The “Music in Our Time” Group exist to play, explore, illustrate and enjoy the music that has impinged on our lives.
Recent meetings have included a wide range of genres, including the classical works of the Planets Suite and the 1812 Overture, swing music, Jeff Lynne and the ELO, Dave Brubeck, Hoagy Carmichael and a selection of “Desert Island Discs” by members of the Group
‘Music in Our Time’ is at Webheath Village Hall on the 2nd Monday of each month from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Entrance £1 covers room hire and refreshment costs. ‘Music in Our Time’ covers all music of the 1930s to 1970s that made an impression on us over our lives and includes classical, pop, rock, and jazz music typically heard over those years.

“Covers of American Country songs that made it big in the UK” - Bob Pickett will play and talk about some very well known songs from the past that were huge hits in the UK but were originally American Country songs. Some of them you will recognise, but others are almost unrecognisable from the original.
