Allotment Gardening

Leaders: Sue Townsend

We are an enthusiastic group of amateurs who enjoy growing our own - in spite of the challenges posed by the local weather. There is something about gardeners that keeps them optimistic in spite of experience!

We have an allotment that we share off Laburnam Road and so are able to grow fruit and vegetables that, even if we have gardens, we may not have room for. No one is an 'expert' but we willingly share what we know and help each other when needed.

If you have ever tasted something home grown you will know why we keep on trying - there is nothing better and we love it!

We meet at the allotment on the fourth Thursday of the month at 2.00pm to discuss matters of mutual interest and any U3A member is welcome to come along and join in.

Last year we erected a greenhouse and hope that it can be put to good use over the forthcoming season. Pauline Stuart has kindly offered to be on greenhouse duties along with the group to look after the general maintenance.

At present all the plots of ground are taken but if you want to be placed on the waiting list.
