Meetings: Fridays, am and/or pm, during school term time (see schedule below)
Venue: Langley Methodist Church Hall (Cock Hall Lane entrance), Langley, SK11 0BU
Leader: Jackie Gibbs
The Painting & Art Group exists to encourage and develop the skills of all artists, from beginners to the more accomplished, in a friendly, supportive and practical way. There is an extensive supply of materials, self-help books and DVDs, and, the venue itself is well lit, has full catering facilities, and, as a bonus, is close to the stunning scenery of the Peak District.
The Morning classes, 10.15 – 12.15, have tutored demonstrations whenever possible and there is free access to an extensive range of paints and painting materials. Members enjoy discounts on purchases from certain suppliers, there is an informal ‘shop’ for items bought in bulk such as paper, and, the learning media (books etc) may be borrowed in order to continue activities at home. Members contribute regularly to open discussions regarding the content, techniques and art forms to be covered in the classes. Above all, the atmosphere is friendly and cooperative.
The Afternoon classes, 1.30 – 3.30, are for the more independent artists who wish to work on their own projects whilst being among like-minded colleagues and, again, with free access to all the facilities and materials available.
Members may attend either or both classes. Prospective new members or visitors are very welcome to visit on a Friday morning, around 11.00, to have a drink, a chat and to meet with the artists.
Langley can be reached using the no.14 bus from Macclesfield. The car park is small but there is ample safe street parking for cars outside.
