Creative Writing Workshops
Have you always wanted to write? Do you have a story inside you, desperate to get out? Or perhaps you would like to write memoirs for your family, or do you simply want to improve your writing?
This group is for members interested in developing creative writing skills. It meets on the 1st Thursday of the month from 10am to 12 noon. The meetings are held at the Henley Library. Examples of members’ writings to date can be seen in the links on the right of this page. New members welcome.
The programme is led by Charles Whittaker. He holds a masters degree in English and a Diploma in Creative Writing. It is aimed primarily at those relatively new to creative writing and adopts a participative teaching and learning approach.
The programme includes:
• Taught best practice.
• Reading examples of best practice from published work.
• Practical exercises to develop writing skills and knowledge.
• Constructive peer and tutor feedback.
• Discussion of topics.
• Online group support.
Meeting dates are generally on first Thursday of each month, 10-12am except in August. This may vary slightly depending on people’s availability. If such a programme sounds interesting or you would like to learn more, please contact Charles Whittaker.
