Poetry Group
The group meets monthly on the 4th Thursday from 10:00am until 12:00noon at the Friends Meeting House, 45 Northfield End, Henley. Meetings include reading, discussion and analysis of a range of poetry to develop our understanding and appreciation. No prior knowledge of poetry is required. Advice on writing poetry can be provided.
The January meeting of the Poetry Group read and discussed the work of the poet laureate, Simon Armitage, including topics as varied as his translation of the 1375 poem "Gawain and the Green Knight" to the "Twin Towers in 2001". It also zoomed from an end of terrace house into a black hole, sort of 'literally'. Who says poetry is dull?
The Group currently has a waiting list. Please contact the Group Leader, Louise Stuart-Bennet, via the contact tab on this website.
