Theatre & Live Music

Theatre and Live Music is a group for U3A members who may be interested in outings to local productions. I shall aim to make a suggestion most months, but am very open to ideas and recommendations. We car share when possible with pickups mainly in Heathfield.
If you are interested do contact me to be put on the list and let me know of your particular favourite genres. Updates will be posted on the website, face book and by email if you are on my distribution list. We also have a WhatsApp group for up to date information.

BLOOD BROTHERS

Date: Wednesday 17th April 2.30
Venue: Assembly Hall Theatre Tunbridge Wells
Price: £25 plus share of booking free. 10% discount for parties of 8+

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award winning BLOOD BROTHERS. Bill Kenwright's production surpassed 10,000 performances in London's West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the 'Standing Ovation Musical', as inevitably it “brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval” (The Daily Mail).

Please book in with me now and I will advise exact payment before I book.

Waiting for dates…..

Every year, EODS open air Shakespeare productions are eagerly anticipated and fondly remembered by audiences from Eastbourne and miles around – and it’s easy to see why. The setting helps, of course; the beautifully restored Italian gardens, nestling under the downs and with a view of the sea, can quickly transport you to Verona, Illyria and wherever The Bard set the play’s action. The scenery and props are solid and substantial; (they have to be, to still look fresh after a 10-day run in the open air). And the direction and acting…..well, perhaps it’s the magic of the setting coupled with the power of the tradition of this event that makes actors young and old give the performances of their lives.
