Mah Jong - Begin/Improve/returners

MAH JONG. OUR BEGINNERS, IMPROVERS AND REFRESHER MAHJONG GROUPS have merged and now have a new home! The Union church, High Street Heathfield.

The aim of this group is to teach absolute beginners or people who have not played for a long time. Its purpose is to give players the confidence to move on to the Advanced Group when they feel ready.
Earlier beginners who have moved on who are unable to attend the Advanced Group sessions or who would like to enjoy extra sessions are very welcome, as we now have lots of space.

A session costs £2, with tea and biscuits provided!

The next meeting will be on the 18th August at the Union Church from 2pm-4pm.

Sessions NORMALLY take place on the THIRD Friday afternoon in the month however in September it will be on the FOURTH Friday.

There is now space to incorporate a few ‘new’ complete beginners. For more information, please contact Jenny Bryan

NEXT SESSION 18th AUGUST,
(Absolute beginners will have extra sessions at Jenny’s home until they feel confident in the basics. Dates to be arranged as we go. These are free and still include coffee, tea and biscuits!)

HISTORY
MAY 2023
The Beginners Group was originally set up to teach those who have never played before but would like to learn. The aim being to give them the confidence to move on to the more experienced group. This very light hearted group has been doing well and enjoying themselves. Numbers were originally restricted because the sessions were being held in the convener’s home. BUT...

Our Beginners, Improvers and Refresher Mahjong Groups have merged and now have a new home!
The first session at our new venue was on Friday the 19th May, 2pm until 4pm.
A session costs £2, with tea and biscuits provided!
A few players; who are unable to attend the Advanced group or would like to enjoy extra sessions, were also welcomed, making up a meeting of: 2 tables of beginners, 2 tables of intermediates and one Advanced table.

Coffee, Cake and Mahjong for Beginners.
There was a lot of laughter at to our Coffee, Cake and Mahjong sessions for Beginners. Mahjong is similar to card games but played with tiles, funny words and Chinese superstitions. Our beginners have had just four sessions, so they are still learning under the watchful eye of more advanced players.
