Bridge
The Boldon u3a Bridge Group meets on Wednesday mornings, at Boldon Golf Club in Dipe Lane.
Everyone playing pays £1.00 and coffee and tea are available at a cost of £1.60 from the machine in the Golf Club lounge.
We usually have 4 or 5 tables playing Bridge at any one session.
We meet at 9.45 to start at 10.00, with a short 15 minute break and aim to finish before 12.15, depending on numbers and number of boards played. We have simple movements and usually manage to score the boards providing no mistakes on the score sheets have been made.
The sessions run as a duplicate session would in any Bridge Club although it is a friendly session where there is some talking about the hands once they have been played should time permit and help can also be requested in bidding from one of the more experienced players.
Basic English ACOL is the preferred system as this allows players to progress into playing in a club environment. To this end we are also encouraging players to play according to the rules and etiquette that would be expected in an EBU [English Bridge Union] registered club.
