WE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE YOU AS THE SITUATION DEVELOPS

A warm welcome to the website of Boldon & District U3A. Established in 2012 we are now growing in strength and numbers with membership now a staggering 250.
We hold monthly meetings at the All Saints Church Hall in Cleadon, South Tyneside which gives members a chance to meet up and have a good old fashioned “chin wag “and get updates on future activities as well as listening to a varied programme of speakers.

We have 18 interest groups – three Walking groups, 2 Cycling, French Conversation, Art, Computing, Creative Writing, Digital Photography, Bird Study, Music Appreciation, Contemporary Music, Indoor Bowling, Bridge, Scrabble, Rail Enthusiasts as well as a newly introduced group on Healthy Eating.

Our social activities include monthly outings that include day trips and overnight stays. One of the most successful was a repeat visit to the Royal Albert Hall in London for a Music Extravaganza with a next day visit to Blenheim Palace. Local visits to the Swing Bridge and the Literary and Philosophical (Lit & Phil) Society both in Newcastle were well attended. Future events in the pipeline are an overnight stay at Haddon Hall with a next day visit to Chatsworth House and seventy members including myself are really looking forward to attending the spectacular outdoor event “Kynren” in Bishop Auckland – all we hope for is good weather.

Our Now and Then programme of events continues to be well supported. As the name suggests these are a programme of one off events led by a committee member. Recently we have enjoyed evenings on Wine Tasting, experiences of a Police Forensic Artist, welcoming and testing this year’s new Beaujolais wine, Ageing Well & Beauty evening and not forgetting our committee member Malcom Fox’s humorous account of his life entitled “From Sixth Form to Suez”.
