The group meets on 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, all at 1pm at the Palmer Morewood Social Club in Alfreton. New members welcome. Absolute beginners treated kindly. We have a spare Ukulele, for anyone wondering about giving it a try, to borrow with beginners instruction books.
Next Meetings: Mondays 8 April, 15 April and 29 April, due to Easter.
Following Meeting: Monday 20 May only. Back to normal in June.
Please be aware of a change in the dates in April and May because of Bank Holidays.
We were made very welcome at the South Wingfield WI 90th Birthday Party. We performed our selection with gusto, but encores were not called for. Then there was homemade soup and delicious Birthday Cake. With sherry for those who wished. Our Singers Along proved their worth, enriching our sound. They are being encouraged to have a go at playing Kazoos and Tin Whistles, and, although they don’t know yet, small rhythm instruments. The two in the photograph are both very musical, with as yet untapped, by us, potential.
I was especially happy at the Party - we sang, with careful enunciation, my own ditty which came from the heart ‘Was it Really such a Bargain when you Bought it in the Sales’. It raised a chuckle or two. I introduced it and tried to explain that I was still doing it. In fact, a small parcel is winging its way to me from Lands End even now.
