Dorset Short Stay Car Park Permit

Julie Chapman and her French Conversation group have identified a little-known scheme run by Dorset Council that may save you some money on car parking at a
large number of car parks in Dorset and, in particular, in Weymouth.
The scheme allows residents to purchase a virtual permit (accessed through an app on your phone). More information on the permit can be found at Dorset Council website Short Stay Car Park Permit page.
The permit allows:
 A single car parking session for up to 2 hours every day in most of Dorset Council car parks
 Up to two vehicles can be registered per permit (but only one can be parked at a time).
The permit costs £78 for 12 months and can be applied for at the Dorset Council MiPermit Portal.
Extra parking can be bought from the machine or the JustPark app if you need to park for more than two hours.
A small number of car parks are excluded from the scheme (here) but, given the sharp rise in car parking prices in Weymouth over this summer, this may be a cost-
effective option for members.
