Weymouth & Portland

Volunteer

Our U3A is organised totally by volunteers who give up their time to make our organisation work and grow. Without these volunteers there would be no Weymouth & Portland U3A and we are very grateful for the time they give. Volunteers range from serving on the committee either as an officer (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer) or as a committee member with specific responsibilities, to being a group leader or helping with refreshments at the monthly meetings, or being a greeter for new members at events and many more roles.

All members of the committee are trustees of the U3A Charity. The responsibilities of a trustee can be found in the documents Essential Trustee CC3 and the U3A Trustee code of conduct using the link on the right.

Did you know that the officers on the committee can only server for a specific period?
We constantly need volunteers to fill these essential roles and joining the committee as a member is an excellent way to find out about the roles and then prepare and move into one of the roles. It can be challenging finding volunteers to fill these roles and the ideal is to have plenty of volunteers on the committee ready to move into these vital roles.

Could you join the committee to help perpetuate our U3A? Our constitution allows for a maximum of 12 committee members (including the 4 officer roles).

Here is a guide to the duties and responsibilites our volunteers undertake;

We need more committee members/volunteers to ensure we can replace retiring officers when their term is up and to cover all the roles above.

COULD YOU BE THAT VOLUNTEER?

Contact any member of the committee at a monthly meeting to express your interest or send an email to the committee using the contact page on this website.
