Report
On a cold, rainy morning 11 hardy souls met for a new year walk. Fortunately the weather improved for most of the second half of the walk and we even saw some blue sky for a little while! The heavy rain of the preceding couple of weeks meant that there were quite a few very muddy patches, but Nicky expertly steered us round the edges wherever possible!
We passed several interesting buildings, including a beautiful house that had a collection of small houses in its garden. These had been built by the previous owner for each of his grandchildren. Nicky provided us with information about the history of this and other notable features like the Emborough carp fishery and the churches at Emborough and Binegar.
Lunch at The Horse and Jockey at the end of this enjoyable walk was particularly welcome. We were joined by 4 non-walkers for very large lunches in a warm, friendly pub.
