Spelthorne K2

Welcome

The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a national organisation bringing educational and social opportunities to people no longer in full-time work. It creates an environment where all can benefit by sharing knowledge acquired during our lives or by getting together to try something completely new.

Spelthorne U3A K2 is a well established and growing U3A serving Spelthorne, a borough in Surrey, covering Ashford, Shepperton, Staines and Sunbury. Currently, there are over 700 members enjoying around 50 widely varied group activities. There is something for everyone and new members are welcomed.

There were two U3A groups in the Spelthorne area: the original Spelthorne U3A and a spin-off group, formed in the year 2000 and known as “K2”. Sadly, at the end of July 2023, the original group closed, leaving K2 as the only U3A in Spelthorne. In K2, we have our own constitution, accounts and registered charity number. There is also an elected chairman and executive committee which serves through its group leaders the needs of our members.

We have General Monthly Meetings at the CITADEL (usually the second Thursday in the month 2-3.30pm).

After the announcements, the General Monthly Meetings are addressed by a variety of lively carefully chosen guest speakers and meetings are well attended. Refreshments are provided (this does require a coordinator and several helpers, so if you are willing to be part of the refreshment team, please contact the Membership Secretary).

We keep members informed via this website, emails and also our magazine called "K2 News" (this has replaced our previous newsletter called "Keeping in Touch" or "KIT"). The magazine is edited by Diana Adolphus. If you would like to submit an article, photo or joke you can make contact with Diana by using the form on the CONTACT page. You need to enter your name and email address, click on the K2 News Editor box and enter your message in the box.
There are links to the latest K2 News and past issues of KIT in the Members Area (requires the username and password that all members are given). Click on Links to Newsletters.

If you are not a member, we hope that you will join us. We pride ourselves on being a friendly welcoming group with a wide and varied range of interests. If you are thinking of joining, please contact the Membership Secretary or click on Membership Information Pack to get an application form. Potential new members are welcome to attend two General Monthly Meetings prior to joining.

If you are already a member and want to renew your membership, click on this link: Membership Renewal Form to access and print the renewal form.
