Groups

Spelthorne U3A K2 has more than 70 active groups covering over 50 separate interests. The groups are listed below and where there is more than one group covering the same topic then this is indicated by a number appearing in brackets after the group name. We are always keen to support the formation of new groups and there are a number of additional groups that could start if there is enough support and a leader (or leaders). Please click on Potential New Groups for more information.

Details about a specific group may be found by clicking on the group name. Further details of contacts and meeting places are published in the newsletter "K2 News". There is also a handy summary table giving an Update of Group Activities (click on the link on the right of the page). PLEASE NOTE - the status of groups often change quickly and may not be reflected in this file. To get the very latest information, please look at the web page for the specific group.

In order to join or remain in a group it is necessary to be a current SU3A K2 member. Email contact with the Membership Secretary can be made via the CONTACT page.

All groups are self financing and non profit-making. Some groups have a small annual membership fee to cover incidental expenses, whilst others charge for attendance at each meeting. Many group meetings are held in member’s houses and costs are therefore minimal whilst other groups who need to use rented premises include these costs in their attendance charge.

The role of the Groups Coordinator is to organise the setting up of new or additional groups.

Ideas for new groups are always welcomed and an opportunity given for the idea to be discussed and for the level of interest from existing K2 members to be assessed, and then help given with the setting up of the group. If an Interest group reaches full capacity for whatever reason, then every effort is made to start an additional group.

Spelthorne U3A K2 has established close links with the Active Lifestyle programme run by Spelthorne Borough Council and information about the activities on offer can be obtained from the Group Coordinator, or from the Council website.
