Sewing Workshop
Sewing Workshop
3rd Tuesday in members' homes at 2.00pm
The sewing workshops are self-help groups. Each member takes his or her own piece of work to do; these range from learning to sew on a button or darn a sock to complicated quilting, embroidery or other sewn crafts.
We share knowledge and experience to help and advise each other and ask questions of other members when we need support.
Sometimes a member will demonstrate a skill to the whole group and encourage the learning of new techniques.
We enjoy sewing in company with good conversation and a cup of tea while broadening our experiences.
Most of the work is hand sewn but there is just room for one or two members to take a sewing machine in if they wish.
Some members have restored their confidence after years of not doing any needlework others have attempted new skills with very pleasing results. We have all learned something and increased our enthusiasm for sewing.
