The Novels 1 Group is the place to express enthusiasm for literature, to read, discuss and celebrate a wide variety of authors and genres, old and new. We seek to understand something about the author, the structure and content of the selected book, what is good and perhaps not so good about it, character and plot development, setting and themes.
Books are not just words on a page. Good books should evoke emotion, thought and yes, judgement. Good books create memorable characters that live and breathe in a place and a time painted by the author. Good books have an engaging story that draws us in and takes us on an unforgettable and perhaps remarkable journey. It's a journey the Novels Group wishes to explore and experience together.
“So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”
Roald Dahl, Matilda
