MONTHLY MEETINGS AND SOCIAL EVENTS

This is a new page on our website where we will be reporting on Monthly Meetings and Social Events. We hope that existing members and prospective members will visit this page, to see the write of Speakers content and what happened at our Social Events.

MONTHLY MEETINGS - These as those who visit this website's welcome page and read the Monthly Newsletter, take place on the 3rd Monday each month at Theydon Bois Village Hall. Each month we have a Speaker who talks for about an hour on his specialised subject. In the past we have had a variety of subjects, ranging from The History of Surnames, A Stunt Lady, A Lady who spoke about Great Ormond Street Hospital and so many others.

MONTHLY MEETING - February 21st 2022

At our meeting on Monday meeting we had a talk by Professor Robert Milne. His subject was - How Forensics came to Scotland Yard.
This was an interesting insight into the history and world of this side of Criminal Investigation. How finger printing began and who created and invented the system in place today.

Monthly meeting - Monday 21st March,

Our speaker this month will be Tony Earle - His subject will be - The History of the Silver Screen.
This talk will be a far cry from the one in February. He will be telling us of the people through the ages people have dreamed of moving pictures culminating in elaborate Victorian slide shows. For it was not until the 1880s that movies arrived in those early days of silent movies to the films that we have in modern times.
The talk will be illustrated with film clips and audience amusement. So come along and be in the audience.
