The heart of any U3A is the interest group. These are run by members with an enthusiasm for a subject, for members with a similar enthusiasm. Prior knowledge of a subject is not required.
Joining a group is entirely optional but also membership of more than one group is common.
Groups usually meet once or twice a month at a local venue or arrange trips of interest to the group. Some groups may require extra funding for the venue, for trips or incidental expenses.
If a group is full either add your name to the waiting list (available at meetings) or work with the Groups Coordinator to create a new group and find a suitable venue. Contact the Groups Coordinator to register your interest in any of the groups.
The Lunch Club, Travel and Walking groups are open to all members. These are a great way to get to meet friends. Other groups may also arrange specialist trips and occasionally these are opened up to all members. Keep an eye open on the Events page for upcoming activities.
Possible New Groups
New groups are always welcome. To register your suggestion for a possible new group please contact the Groups Coordinator. Come forward and help make it happen.
This is a new open group to formally bring together roles already being performed by RUG volunteers. Its aim is to ensure the smooth running of speakers' meetings by providing technical and manual support. Click on the group below for more details or speak to anyone in the back corner of the church.
