Quizzers
Welcome to Quizzers, a social experience for those who enjoy testing their knowledge, with the possibility of bathing in the glory of winning, or at least beating the other U3a team!
We meet once per month on Tuesday evenings at a local pub to take part in the venue's own quiz night. Typically we form two teams of between 3 to 6 members each, with a nominal cost (currently £1 per person) to enter, and this is paid to the venue.
Winning teams receive vouchers towards food and drink at their next visit to the pub. Some quiz organisers also run a side raffle, with opportunities to win anything between a free half-pint of beer to a cash prize of up to £200!
U3a teams came second and third (out of 12) at the Royal Oak in May 2023, with the 2nd-placed team winning a £15 food and drink voucher!
*** YET ANOTHER WIN *** At the Royal Oak in July, one of the teams had their raffle ticket drawn, correctly answered the question and shared the £50 prize between them!
You don't need to be a "mastermind" to join Quizzers; some of us are there just to enjoy the social aspect. But it is a good feeling when you are the only one in your team who knows the answer to a question (especially if you get it right!).
