Antiques & Collectables 2:

Organiser:- Pam Whitfield
Venue:- The Lounge at Greenwood Park.

Meeting date:- 4th Thursday of the month. 10am to 12noon.

There is a small charge of £3 per person per meeting to cover the cost of the hall hire, refreshments and the occasional speaker.

The group members share their knowledge and interest in all things antique and collectables. They learn from each other and from visiting speakers - such as auctioneers, china restorer, jewellery maker, etc.

2023:-

FEBRUARY Meeting:-
The subject of our February meeting will be Lalique - the famous French glass company.

MARCH Meeting:-
We will welcome a guest speaker at this meeting. This will be Rupert Pink - sales manager and valuer at Bateman's auction in Stamford. He will talk will be entitled "Auctions - Past,Present and Future."

MAY Meeting:-
This will be our next meeting with a guest speaker. This will be auctioneer David Palmer. David has been a friend of our Antiques & Collectables groups for some time now and has entertained us an several occasions with his insight into the world of antiques and auctions. His own love is pictures. This month he will talk about identification, fakes, forgeries etc and will have some pictures for us to look at and examine.

JUNE Meeting:-
At this meeting we will be looking at the array of marks that appear on 'silver' items. What do they mean? Can you trust them? It can be very confusing!!!

2024:-

So far this year we have held a 'Show and Tell' meeting where members bring in items from their own collections to tell us about them - what they are and why they are special to them. This type of meeting is always very interesting and often quite emotional.

April:-
This month we will be looking at the life of Clarice Cliff. Clarice is famous for her pottery designs and her influence in the world of pottery.
