Meet - fortnightly on a Wednesday 2.00pm to 3.30pm
We meet every other Wednesday at the Three Hammers Pub, Chiswell Green at 2:00 pm. This is normally a quiet time, after the lunchtime rush, and the landlady is content for us to be there. The location is convenient for those travelling by bus and there is parking available either in the car park or the side road. Refreshments are conveniently available too.
We have chosen a range of subjects for discussion, anything from tourist literature, newspaper articles, photographs and topics of personal interest.
As none of us are fluent speakers, we have adapted by including the reading of articles and books, and then translating, rather than a session entirely of conversation. This may change for some sessions now we have two fluent speakers who have offered to come along occasionally in support.
It is entirely up to the individual how much preparation they want to take on. An A4 sheet prepared with some key words is helpful as well as making a note of any unfamiliar words and grammar during the session for future reference. Resources can be any self-learning tools such as the BBC – Talk French 2 & Grammar, as well as dictionaries, and French Verbs as resources.
