Meetings: We will commence in January 2022 at a venue, date and time yet to be confirmed.

Following the retirement of the very successful Military History Group Leader, Malcolm Perks, the group's future was re-assessed. Continuing COVID precautions now render some venues too small, and with an overlap of membership and subject matter with the newly re-formed Aviation Group, it was agreed that the two groups should merge. Both groups would have struggled to find larger venues at an affordable cost; however, as a combined group we are able to afford a larger venue for the membership.

The group will continue to present Military History as before, but modern history topics will be more influenced by aviation which has played its part in all theatres for just over 100 years. We will, however, not ignore older naval and military history.

We will start our season with a personal and emotional eye-witness account of the Falkland's War as we approach the 40th anniversary. The story starts with the Advanced Naval Battle Group diverting south from exercises off Gibraltar in late March 1982 and takes the audience though the seaborne preparations and execution of Operation CORPORATE. It concentrates on the Type 42 Destroyers HMS Coventry, Glasgow and Sheffield, but opens out to include all elements of battle on land, sea and in the air.

A programme of events to follow will be developed.

We now have approximately 30 members, and would welcome many more.
