Shibden Hall & Piece Hall: Grand Day Out
Out next outing will be by coach and over the border into Yorkshire and will be on Tuesday 19th September 2023.
We'll visit two different venues, Shibden Hall and then Piece Hall
The coach will leave from outside the Youth Zone at 8:15 am, to arrive at Shibden Hall for about 10:00 am. On arrival we will travel by land train up to the Hall, returning the same way after about 2 hours. This should give plenty time to explore this fascinating building, built in 1420, and learn about the people who have lived and worked here - including Anne Lister whose fascinating life featured in the recent TV series Gentleman Jack. There are also gardens and woodland to explore, plus cafe and other visitor facilities.
From there we will travel onwards by coach to Piece Hall near Halifax, to join a tour of this Grade 1 listed Traditional Cloth Hall at 2:00 pm, and then be free to explore the many fascinating specialist shops that are now located here. The coach will leave for home at 4:30 pm
If your name is on the list you have a seat; a waiting list will be made. Money (£25) will be collected commencing at the July Speakers Meeting. Please put this into an envelope with your name details, and hand in on arrival; receipts will be ready before you leave.
