Music - 60s Group 3
Name: 60s Music & Culture Group 3
Date and Time: 4th Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm
Venue: Members' homes. This is voluntary and where practical.
Description: Members suggest topics for our meetings. These are considered at Group meetings and those agreed by members are included in the plan for future meetings. Volunteer members take the lead in presenting topics at group meetings. We all enjoy talking about the music and culture of the period which is taken in its widest sense to include themes, events and personalities of the era.
There are three 60s Groups which occasionally join together in a larger venue for events such as a quiz or Christmas meal.
Would-be members are initially on a waiting list and will be invited to a trial meeting when there is a vacancy, or it is known that one or more existing member(s) will be absent.
Recent themes included: Number 1 hits; World Events; Music from Films; One-Hit Wonders! Manchester Sounds; Protest Songs, 60s food and fashion.
Level of Knowledge or Skills Required: None, just a love of talking about and listening to the culture and music of the 60s.
