Uckfield

Membership

Welcome to Uckfield u3a which was formed in the Autumn of 1997 to offer learning, leisure and social activities for retired and semi-retired people of Uckfield and the surrounding areas. We are part of a world wide organisation which began in France in 1972 and there are now more than 40 u3a groups in Sussex.

Uckfield u3a has currently around 400 members and we offer over 80 different activities. These are self-help groups, each led by an enthusiastic member, and they give an excellent way of following new interests and making new friends.

Membership is open to anyone who is retired or semi retired living in Uckfield and the surrounding area. Our membership fee is low, just £12 per year, renewable in September (£10 from 1st April 2024 to September), which entitles you to attend the monthly meetings and join as many activities as you wish. To join, click the "Application Form 2023 2024" link on the "Notice Board" page, download or save the form, then print out, fill in the form and post to the Membership Secretary (address is on the form) enclosing your cheque for £12 and a stamped addressed envelope. Alternatively, you can join at the monthly meetings.

WHAT WE OFFER

We have over 80 activity groups covering a wide range of interests. These are run by our members, in most cases, in their homes. There are details about the interest groups and the times they meet on our website.

We have a meeting each month on the first Friday, in the Weald Hall, Civic Centre, at 2:00pm (doors open at 1:30pm). At these meetings you’ll hear of our latest activities and there are talks which are varied and given by very good speakers - listed on your membership card. All members are welcome and so are visitors (who are asked to make a small donation of £1).
