News, Support, Training and Technical Resource Links for the Third Age Trust's New u3a SiteWorks Development Project

Along with around 700 u3a organisations across the UK, Sleaford u3a currently uses the u3a SiteBuilder system for it's website (which was originally implemented in 2015/6), which links to data held in the u3a's Beacon Management System.

A small number of those UK u3a organisations are currently testing a new WordPress-based u3a SiteWorks web system that is currently in development by the Third Age Trust with a more modern and flexible website design.

Sleaford u3a is planning to migrate from the current u3a SiteBuilder system to u3a SiteWorks, once national testing is completed and the system is released to all u3as. Currently, only an estimated timetable of 'up to 18 months' for the migration phase is available from the Third Age Trust. As a result, currently, we are unable to provide an updated plan for its implementation at Sleaford u3a.

However, in advance of this change, we have already begun updating the data in our u3a Beacon, email, and u3a SiteBuilder website systems to ensure that the migration to u3a SiteWorks is successful.

The new u3a SiteWorks system will be accessed from the same sleafordu3a.org web address currently used and will offer more opportunity for the committee and group leaders to contribute directly to their website content.

There will be opportunities to learn more about maintaining web pages and the basic use of WordPress that will be useful for not only editing the u3a's or your own group's page content, but could also be used outside the u3a, e.g. to set up your own personal interest or family web pages.
