Learn, Laugh, Live with Sleaford U3A
Founded over 35 years ago, the U3A movement in the United Kingdom aims to encourage groups of people in their “third age” to come together to develop new hobbies, make new friends and continue to learn in subjects of interest to them.
The 'third age' is not defined by your age. It is that time in your life where you are no longer in full time employment and have the opportunity to undertake learning for its own sake. There is no minimum or maximum age, but membership is primarily from those who are in retirement or are caring for family members.
All U3As are independent, registered charities which are run 'by the members for the members', receiving no government subsidies.
Today in the UK there are over 400,000 members in more than 1,000 U3A groups, and is continuing to grow every day. The U3A national body – the Third Age Trust - looks after all the U3As in the UK, providing educational and administrative support. Click on this link to find out more Third Age Trust.
