Travellers Tales
Travellers’ Tales is for those who want to listen to and talk about travelling.
Led by Peter Davison we meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at The Hub, 62 Musters Road, Ruddington. It is informal, enjoyable and entertaining.
Attendance is normally about 15. Some months we watch a slide show presentation by one of our group on their experiences in countries worldwide.
Other meetings have topics like Mediterranean Islands when people talk informally sharing stories and information about their experiences.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and friendly chatter close the meetings
As well as world famous sights like Sydney Opera House, we see curiosities like Stalin’s death mask (C) which is in a museum in Gori, his birthplace in Georgia.
But, the most amazing, and gruesome tale heard so far was of a visit to a 17th century convent on Ischia, a Mediterranean island in the Bay of Naples, where an order of nuns lived.
It involved death and decay. If you have the stomach for it google the cemetery of the Poor Clares.
