u3a online learning opportunities

Your local committee is always looking for ways to extend opportunities for involvement by Much Wenlock U3A members and we are suggesting that the use of online courses could be an interesting and useful way of developing our approaches.

The national u3a website has information regarding online learning opportunities. How to access them can be found be clicking on the link to the U3A National Website pages at the top centre of this page.

In addition there are Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) which are mostly short (from 2-8 weeks) on-line courses run by academics and researchers at universities. The courses are programmed into weekly units that structure the introduction to a whole range of themes. Whilst dealing with serious ideas, they are not particularly academic and can be taken by anyone with an interest in the subject but with no requirement for any prior knowledge or understanding. Although presented in weekly units, the participant can normally take as much or little time as required.

The range of courses available is absolutely gigantic. Whilst designed to study individually, the courses provide an excellent opportunity for informal U3A groups to share their experience by working together

More information on MOOCs click on the link on the right side of the page.
