Opera

This group, which started in Sept. 2012 is coordinated by Dave H.
Each month we watch a complete Opera on DVD, and spend some time reviewing different aspects of it such as the music and libretto, the staging, the actors performances etc.

Among the over 50 operas we have studied are Lucia di Lammermoor, Die Entf├╝hrung aus Dem Serail, Tosca, La Traviata, Ernani, Falstaff, Faust, Fidelio, Norma, Samson and Delilah, The Barber of Seville, Rodelinda, The Magic Flute, Madam Butterfly, Anna Bolena, La Belle Helene, and of course Carmen.

We watch out for and publicise amongst ourselves any opera productions in local theatres, and increasingly any operas streamed to local cinemas.
We try continually to get more people interested in this admittedly 'minority sport'. Come and join the group.
