Film Studies Group

The Film Studies Group's purpose is to develop an understanding of the language of cinema and a deeper appreciation of film through group viewings and discussions of films’ apparent and underlying meanings and significance. We aim to do this as a satisfying collective effort through which members' views and understanding are shared and developed.

Film Studies Group meets for an hour at 5.00pm on Wednesdays fortnightly, usually on Zoom. Members of the Group view films individually beforehand, using Netflix.

Using this method of viewing and discussing online, Group members have managed to meet regularly since early 2020. Films have been varied in genre and country of origin, as can be seen by the accompanying list (not exhaustive) on the right.
