Family History and Genealogy

The new Family History and Genealogy group meets on the third Thursday in the month at 2pm. (on Zoom for the time being)
Those new to tracing their roots and others who are more experienced are very welcome. The aim is to help each other make progress, share successes and pitfalls. As our meetings are currently on Zoom, we are choosing a theme for group discussion each month. In the future we hope to make visits to the Isle of Wight County Records Office, the IWFHS Resources Centre plus other places of interest to family historians and possibly undertake some projects. Family History and Genealogy is a far-reaching multifaceted topic with a great many fascinating themes for future discussion and research.

A Family tree is shown on the right of the page, click on it to enlarge it.
The aim for the family tree was to put ‘names to faces’
and create a detailed life story for each individual.
It was created using old family memorabilia and research from several online resources.
The family story has now been printed as an illustrated book to hand down to future generations
