Isle of Wight

Welcome to the new U3A site for the Isle of Wight (IoWU3A) -

Read our April Newsletter and May Newsletter also read the South East Region "Catch-Up" for April 2020

Monthly Speaker Meetings are normally on the 2nd Thursday of the month - but under present circumstances these will have to be postponed until later in the year.

As nearly all our members are on-line and in receipt of email we hope to keep in touch more electronically. We are investigating "conferencing" software which we are all becoming more aware of. Details of our plans - and how to use them - will be in the next newsletter. In the meantime we have started an Isle of Wight U3A facebook page. Join us and stay in touch.

The IoW U3A promotes education and social interaction for those in the "Third Age". We support interest groups which are an opportunity for members to meet each other in a friendly social environment with a focus of special interest.

Forthcoming Events and Group Meetings are listed on the Calendar.

About the U3A

The U3A is an amazing organisation. It comprises people coming together to learn, laugh and live. In the UK it has been running since 1982 but is part of an international organisation begun in France in the 1970s. Membership is increasing rapidly, as is the number of U3As. The U3A is a self-help organisation offering older people no longer in fulltime employment the opportunity of lifelong learning within a friendly and sociable framework. Each U3A is independently managed while adhering to the ethos of and being affiliated to the Third Age Trust (TAT). The TAT is the national representative body providing a wide range of services to the local U3As. See the four minute video on U3A life in the right hand column...
