Derby

Creative Crafts

Derby u3a Creative Craft Group is a group of friendly people, who get together to try all sorts of crafts.

We meet fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons from 1pm for 1.30 pm start, at Chester Green Community Centre, City Road, Derby, DE1 3RR. There is free parking nearby. The cost is £2.00 per session for room hire and a small contribution towards the cost of materials.

Usually one member demonstrates how to create the project then everyone else helps each other. Most materials are provided, with members also able to bring their own. The sessions involve paper, fabric and other media depending on the group’s choice, or members can bring their own projects to continue working on. We welcome all abilities, from beginners to experienced crafters.

We have a show-and-tell in each session, where any member is able to show their creations, or seek help with a project. Members discuss and share techniques, skills, knowledge and ideas. Occasionally we do trips and group projects.

We welcome anyone who enjoys making things and having fun.
