Meet on the first & third Wednesday of every month at 09:30am - Meeting point to be advised by group leader. We also meet on the fifth Wednesday of the month, if there is one!
CYCLING - EXPLORATION, EXHILARATION AND EASY EXERCISE - Don't leave your bike rusting in the back of the garage or shed; join the cycling group!
Our aim is to explore our beautiful Dorset countryside on two wheels via lanes, bridleways & trailways. By bike you can feel empathy with the environment but still encompass a reasonable area. We achieve this by leisurely jaunts of about an hour out, half hour break, then return, covering between 12 & 20 miles. However, routes and duration are flexible, depending on the wishes and abilities of members. We also welcome e-bikes, which are becoming increasingly popular. None of our present members rides a drop-handlebar racing bike!
Safety is, of course, important, but enjoyment is paramount. An added advantage is exercise. 'Mens sana in corpore sano.' Not only that, but you have a perfect excuse for wearing Lycra (should you so wish)!
New members are always welcome, so come along and join in the fun!
Since inception in April 2016, with a membership of 18, (as of February 2024) we have ventured out on numerous occasions, covering over 3250 miles in groups varying in size from 2 to 10. Besides regular rides along the North Dorset Trailway to Stourpaine, Shillingstone and Sturminster Newton, we have also visited Sturminster Marshall, Wimborne, Poole, Stoborough, Corfe Castle, Wool, Dorchester, Ringwood, Upton, Crossways, Moreton West Stafford and Moors Valley Country Park.
Please remember that all activities are undertaken at your own risk.
