Exploring World Faiths
What: EXPLORING WORLD FAITHS - The purpose of the group is to explore the various world faiths and deepen our understanding of theology. It is open to everyone, whether they follow a faith or not. The group would initially draw up a list of subjects they would like to explore further so for example the Abrahamic faiths (Islam, Christianity, Judaism), plus Sikhism. Buddhism, Hinduism and other world faiths, such as the Baha'i faith and Zoroastrianism. We could look at the history and differences of various Christian denominations - the Orthodox churches, Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism, the Methodist Church and Quakerism. We could also look into visits to places of worship: a Sikh temple in Gravesend, a synagogue, mosque plus Christian places of worship. But it would initially be driven by the members and what they wish to explore further. If you would like some further information please contact Claire the Exploring World Faith-Theology

Annual Report 2023
Exploring World Faiths - Claire
Exploring World Faiths has been going for a year and takes place on the second Monday afternoon of the month. In the past year we have covered a huge range of areas including looking at the basic tenets of all the world's main faiths including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism. Hinduism and the Orthodox churches among others.
We have also looked at some religious sects including some wacky ones! We are currently doing a comparison of religious areas including marriage, divorce, same sex partnerships. We will look at pilgrimages, attitudes to money amongst other topics. There is so much to explore! The group aims to provide a forum for thought and discussion. We visited the Sikh temple in September that was a lovely afternoon and hope to do some more visits next year to other places of worship. We welcome new members. None of us are experts. We are just exploring and learning together
