Trips and Visits

There is a small sub-committee which organises this Group, using coaches, public transport or car sharing.

The visit to the Weald and Downland Museum in September and the trip to Winchester on 1st December 2022 were both very successful. We have just had a wonderful day visit to the Black Country Living Museum at Dudley and a return visit to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Day Trips and Visits Guidelines

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Forthcoming trips and visits will be advertised on the Abingdon U3A website and on the Welcome screen shown at each Monday meeting. Information will also be sent out by email to all members. It will show the date when deposits for the trip or visit will be taken. This is non-refundable and payable when you sign up for the trip.

Sign-up sheets will be with a Day Trips and Visits committee member on a table at the end of the hall and a mobile contact number is required. The Welcome screen will show the date when the balance of payment will be due. After this date refunds will be at the discretion of the Trips and Visits committee.

Please note that membership of the U3A does not provide Personal Travel insurance cover when on a trip or a visit. However it does provide Public Liability Insurance cover.

Trips and Visits are, in the first instance, only available to u3a members but will be open to non-members should space allow at the time bookings close. Trips for non-members are limited to two trips or visits after which they would be expected to sign up as a full u3a member. Members of other u3as may join any trips and visits should space allow.

Once the full amount has been paid and you find yourself unable to come, please notify the organiser as early as possible. The Trips and Visits committee may be able to help with the names of interested parties if there is a waiting list.

If a coach has been organised it will leave from the Preston Road Community Centre at 8 am prompt unless otherwise advised. For those arriving at Preston Road Community Centre by car, please park considerately by double parking at the back of the car park. DO NOT park in the Midget Pub car park.

Whilst on a trip or visit photographs may be taken and subsequently used in the Spectrum magazine. Should you not wish for your photograph to appear in the magazine please advise a member of the Trips and Visits committee.

The Trips and Visits committee makes every effort to organise interesting, informative and diverse outings. This is for the benefit of you, our membership, so it is greatly appreciated if you comply with the above guidelines. Thank you.
